The son of former Washington Mayor Marion Barry has a Nov. 13 court date to answer charges in Virginia of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.

Records in Hampton General District Court show that 33-year-old Marion Christopher Barry was arrested earlier this month.

Hampton police say officers conducted a traffic stop after observing Barry driving erratically on August 16 in the 2000 block of Coliseum Drive. Police say a search of Barry was found with marijuana. Additional marijuana and synthetic marijuana was found in the vehicle.

Barry was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of synthetic marijuana.

Barry's father was caught smoking crack cocaine in 1990. The younger Barry received a nine-month suspended sentence in September 2011 on charges of possessing marijuana and PCP.

The elder Barry is now a district councilman.
