82 percent of service complaints made to DDOT about out-of-service parking meters

WASHINGTON -

Parking is never easy in the District, but a new report from AAA Mid-Atlantic is showing a bigger parking issue.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says more than 175,000 service calls and complaints were made about parking meters in 2012.

The D.C. Department of Transportation confirms those numbers, but says the number of complaints was lower compared to previous years.

District officials say efforts are being made to replace old meters throughout the city.

They also remind motorists that parking at a broken meter does not clear you from getting a ticket. You must call 311 to report the meter broken before parking in the spot without getting a ticket.
