LOVINGSTON, Va. -

A judge has denied bond for the suspect in the disappearance of a Nelson County teenager.

Forty-eight-year-old Randy Allen Taylor has been held without bond since his Aug. 11 arrest in the disappearance of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy of Lovingston.

According to media reports, Nelson County Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court Judge A. Ellen White denied a defense request for bond at a hearing Thursday. Defense attorney Michael Hallahan argued that Taylor was not a flight risk, and that there was insufficient evidence to hold him.

Taylor waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The case now goes to a grand jury, which meets Sept. 24 and will decide whether or not to indict Taylor on abduction charges.

Taylor has maintained his innocence.
