You have heard judges call for a short recess. Problem Solver Rob Wolchek found a judge whose recesses are anything but short. The Oakland County judge should have been on the bench. Instead, he was busted on the job.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Judge Dennis Powers is back after the state temporarily appointed him to another district court to alleviate tensions following Fox 2's problem solver investigation earlier this summer.

Watch Rob Wolchek's follow up investigation into Judge Power's questionable expenses.

Judge Julie Nicholson is the chief judge of Oakland County's 52nd courts. She is responsible for maintaining integrity in the courts, and is not happy with Judge Powers after meeting with Rob Wolchek.

Powers has been doing some big spending on the taxpayers dime. Expensing, without Judge Nicholson's approval, things like gas, thousand dollar cell phone bills, and golf outings.

When confronted by Wolchek, Powers said "he is following county policy."

Rob tried to follow up with the judge, but he never called back. His public relations person made it clear that Powers didn't want Rob confronting him in a parking lot again.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson's office told Fox 2 that they take the allegations against Judge Powers very seriously.

The investigation into Judge Powers is now in the hands of the State Court Administrator's office, which has already done an audit on the judge.

Among the interesting facts in the report, in 2012 Judge Powers personal mileage expenses made up 55% of the entire courthouse's total. That includes the other judges, clerks, administrators, etc....
