Explosions, high-flying acts take over Chicago for `Transformers 4`

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Windy City has been turned into a movie set.

Several films are shooting here on location, but one big summer blockbuster is making a lot of noise, literally. In fact, if you didn't get memo, you were likely startled by explosions near McCormick place where "Transformers" began filming Friday.

McCormick Place served as the backdrop of an explosive action scene for the film. Curious onlookers gathered for hours to snap photos and take in the experience.

There will be more live stunts, pyrotechnics, aerial helicopter stunts, and other special effects on the streets of downtown this weekend starting at 5 a.m. through 10 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Some of the filming locations will be close to where blockbuster "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" was shot.

The filming will close roads to cars and pedestrians for parts of the day. East Randolph Street between Stetson Avenue and North Field Boulevard will be shut down, as well as Columbus Drive between East Jackson Drive and Randolph.

Residents and visitors to the areas were warned with fliers.

Meanwhile, "Jupiter Ascending," starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, is also filming in Chicago.
