'Suspicious' man found with BB gun, 3 knives at Cherokee school

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -

A "suspicious" man arrested by Cherokee deputies at a local school was found to be carrying a BB gun that resembled a semi-automatic handgun, three knives and leather gloves.

It happened while deputies were helping with traffic flow at the Cherokee Charter School, located in the 2100 block of Sixes Road in Canton. About 7:30 a.m., at least one deputy noticed the man standing on school property and began to approach the him.

The man, later identified as 31-year-old Todd Christopher Grigg, began to walk and eventually run from the deputies. Deputies caught up with Grigg and he was taken into custody.

It was soon discovered that Grigg, of Woodstock, had the aforementioned items on his person.

There was no word on whether Grigg would face charges, why he was at the charter school and if he has a prior criminal record.
