UNCF Walk for Education happens Aug. 24 at Belle Isle

The Michigan office of United Negro College Fund will "Walk Back Through History" for students at the 25th UNCF Walk for Education.

The event is scheduled Saturday, August 24, 2013 in Detroit at Belle Isle Casino. The silver anniversary event is a celebration of education and is expected to attract an estimated 1,500 community supporters to raise funds to provide students with the tools and support they need to attend and graduate from college.

This year's walk goal is to raise $500,000, which will in part provide scholarships for Michigan students.  To assist in reaching our goal, the Sojourner Foundation is raffling a 2014 Chevrolet Impala LS.  Raffle tickets are $20 will benefit the UNCF 25th Anniversary 5K Walk for Education.  UNCF President and CEO, Michael L. Lomax will be in attendance for the silver anniversary.  

The day's activities include:
- 5K Walk
- HBCU College Fair
- Step Show
- Free mini massages
- Face painting & balloon animals
- Inflatables
- Radio One DJ
- Raffle drawing
