Crews found a body in a wash Monday afternoon.
The body was in the Central Arizona Project canal off Bush Highway, north of Thomas.
The dive team recovered the body at 5:30 p.m., and it was then transferred to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office who will determine cause and manner of death.
The body was determined to be female, between the ages of 15 and 40. It was badly decomposed.
She was later identified as 27-year-old Patricia A. Martinez of Scottsdale.
Martinez was last seen by her parents on Wednesday, August 14, when she walked away from their home between.
When she left the house, Martinez failed to take her cell phone or any form of identification with her.
The case remains under investigation.
