NYPD search for 2 suspects in livery cab robbery

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police are searching for two suspects who robbed and assaulted a cab driver in Brooklyn early Saturday morning.

Authorities say the livery cab company received a call for a pickup around 2:00 a.m. near the location of 1308 East 5th Street in the Midwood section. When the cab arrived, police say one suspect entered the rear driver’s side door of his 2011 Toyota Camry and placed a sharp object to the driver’s neck demanding all his money.

A second suspect remained outside by the driver’s door and police say he pushed the driver’s head into the steering wheel then forcibly removed the his money, cell phone, and assorted documents.

Both men fled west bound on Avenue L toward East 4th Street on foot, according to police. The 34-year-old driver didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

Police describe the first suspect as Black, 6’0”, 180 lbs., in his 20’s and was wearing a blue hat. The second suspect is also Black, 6’0”, 240 lbs., in his 40’s.

Police have released a surveillance photo of the first suspect.
