Partial ceiling collapse in Southeast DC

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Eight people were injured after a partial ceiling collapse inside a D.C. office government building in Southeast.

The collapse happened in the 200 block of I Street just after 9 p.m. Friday night.

About 500 people were gathered at the building for a tribute to late Go-go musician Chuck Brown.

The injured victims were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Fire officials are speculating that construction going on in the second floor along with the live music may have caused the ceiling to come down.
