Thieves ATM heist a bust, getaway found torched nearby

ATLANTA -

In hopes of getting fast cash, thieves targeted an ATM early Friday morning. Fortunately, their hopes were dashed. Not a dollar was taken.

Atlanta police received word of someone trying to hook up an apparatus to a drive-thru ATM at a Bank of America branch in the 3700 block of Brown Mills Road in southwest Atlanta.

The white GMC Yukon that police say was used in the attempted theft was found about a block north of the bank. Atlanta fire fighters had been called to the scene to put out a fire at the SUV.

The suspects are still at-large, police said.
