The dating rules may be changing, according to a new study. The study found that men actually prefer a woman to offer to pay on a date, and women seem open to the idea.
The study was done by Chapman University in California. According to the study, two out of three men think a woman should help pay on a date, although most say they feel guilty about taking their cash. Also, sixty-percent of women say they have offered to pay for a date, although forty-percent secretly wished the man would reject their offer.
"If she's being the one taken out on a date, she should offer to pay for her share, to pay for the tip, really as a good faith gesture to the fellow. And I think he's going to really appreciate that and they'll be more likely to get to the second date," advises Steven Petrow, a dating expert.
Petrow also says if you can't afford to chip in for dates, it's nice to cook dinner or think of creative date ideas that won't break the bank.
