FAIRFAX, Va. -

A member of the U.S. Army's premiere ceremonial unit is under arrest and charged with having sex with a minor.

Investigators say 30-year-old Matthew McKendrick found a 14-year-old girl through an online dating site. She was reported missing last month in Chesterfield, Va., near the Richmond area and was located several days later at his apartment in Alexandria.

McKendrick was taken into custody on July 26.

Investigators say he posted images online of himself and the girl having sex. They believe she was in his apartment along Huntington Avenue for several days.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, McKendrick is being held without bond and charged with carnal knowledge of a child.

The 30-year-old is an Army Specialist and member of The Old Guard, a unit which provides services including 24-hour vigil at the Tomb of the Unknowns and ceremonial duties at Arlington National Cemetery.

Major John G. Miller provided the following statement to FOX 5:

“On July 26, 2013, SPC Matthew McKendrick was arrested for the offenses of Carnal Knowledge with a 13-14 year old Without Force and Indecent Liberties with a Minor. SPC McKendrick's request for bail was denied and he is currently confined in Fairfax County. Currently, the Fairfax Country Police Department is the leading the investigation with support from Army Criminal Investigation Division and Military Prosecutors. Military Prosecutors and Army CID will continue to work closely with Fairfax County Police to offer their full support while the investigation continues. Like all persons accused of crimes, SPC McKendrick is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
