2 children injured by falling tree in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Ga. -

Two young children were flown to the hospital after being struck by falling tree in Walton County on Friday.

Deputies say that a 4-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl were riding in small battery-operated toy Jeep when they were hit by a 40-foot tree on Wagon Trail.

The boy reportedly took a direct hit, while the girl was grazed.

A neighbor lifted the tree off of the children and they were both were taken by air to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

The boy was said to be seriously injured, while the girl was reportedly conscious and alert.

Authorities said that the children live in Stone Mountain, but were visiting in Walton County with their father when the accident happened.
