HHS Sec. Kathleen Sebelius on Oct. 1 'Obamacare' rollout

ATLANTA -

Starting Oct. 1, Americans can sign up for quality, affordable health care coverage in the Health Insurance Marketplace, at healthcare.gov.  Many people will qualify for a tax credit to make the cost of coverage even more affordable.

There is a 24/7 call center open now, 1-800-318-2596.  People can also use a live chat feature at healthcare.gov to ask questions.  Starting soon, there will be in-person assistors available in Georgia (more details to come in the coming days and weeks).

The Secretary is travelling to Atlanta to talk about the upcoming opportunity to sign up for health coverage in the Marketplace starting Oct. 1.  While she is in Atlanta, she will meet with stakeholders and community leaders to discuss the effort to get the word out on the ground in Georgia.

We know that this effort can't be done by Government alone, and it can't be done in Washington alone, so we are working closely with local groups to spread the word and to reach people where they live, work, pray and play.

The Secretary will speak to the National Conference of State Legislators on Monday to update them on implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

On Tuesday, she will visit St. Joseph's Mercy Care Services of Atlanta as part of National Community Health Centers week.  St. Joseph's recently received a federal grant of $192,980 for outreach around open enrollment in the health insurance marketplace.  28 of Georgia's 29 community health centers received such grants in July.
