Children abducted by mother from Children's Hospital located

Posted: Updated:

D.C. police say two boys abducted by their mother from Children's National Medical Center have all been located. All three are in good health.

Sources say D.C. Child Protective Services was in the process of dropping off the 5-year-old and 10-year-old at the hospital located at 111 Michigan Avenue, NW, for a checkup before they were taken shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday.

D.C. police say they were taken by their mother, 27-year-old Mikisha Funderburk. The children are identified as 5-year-old Markale Funderburk and 10-year-old Marquis Funderburk. While they were missing, police said the children may have been in need of medical attention.

Officials with the hospital say they do not believe the boys made it into the hospital and the contact between the children and mother was contained to the front parking area.

It is unknown why the kids were in the custody of child protective services.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department's TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
