The Coast Guard has released the names of the two men who died in a boating accident in Ocean City Monday. They are 65-year-old William Gogel of Baltimore and 57-year-old Fredy Castro of Silver Spring.

Castro's family gathered in Olney Wednesday night to mourn the loss of their loved one, described as adventurous and caring.

Castro was on a fishing trip with three friends when the 28-foot Catamaran they were on capsized. A Coast Guard rescue swimmer and some fishermen on a boat called The Just Right V pulled two men from the water alive.

The Good Samaritans, who were participating in a fishing tournament, also helped the Coast Guard recover the bodies of Gogel and Castro.

Investigators haven't said how the boat capsized or how the men died.

"We're waiting for information," George Castro says about his brother's death. "It's still shocking for all of us. We are a close family."

It is especially hard on their mother, 90-year-old Maria Uribe. Family members say Fredy was her favorite of the six siblings, and they celebrated the strong bond he had with his mother.

"She never thought she would bury any of her children," Mylene Mendoza says. "To see her struggling to deal with this is so hard. I would not want to be in that situation."

Elena Ramos says Castro leaves behind three children and a one-week-old granddaughter he has never met. One son just graduated from the Army military academy Tuesday and is now headed home along with his brother and sister to be with family as they bury their father.

There will be a viewing for Fredy Castro from 5 p.m. to 9 pm on Friday, August 9 at Aspen Hill Christian Church in Silver Spring.

Fredy Castro's funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 10 at St. Catherine Laboure Rectory on 11801 Claridge Road in Wheaton.
