A long-distance swimmer who calls himself "The Shark" is keeping up his 22-mile swim in Lake St. Clair near the Michigan-Canada border.

Jim Dreyer is hauling two dinghies bearing 334 bricks weighing more than 2,000 pounds.

Dreyer had said he expected to finish Tuesday afternoon after about 30 hours in the water. But an online tracking system showed him with a few miles to go on Wednesday morning, just off the Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe.

"He did get off track and just being tired and so forth, he did get to a point where he just wasn't moving," said Sandra Pearson, President of Habitat for Humanity Michigan. "But he is moving now."

A posting on his Facebook page says it's not clear how long the swim now will take. He began Monday morning near Algonac and plans to end at Detroit's Belle Isle.

Dreyer has made direct crossings of the five Great Lakes. He's raising money for Habitat for Humanity.
