ROSWELL, Ga. -

Authorities have suspended the search man who fell into the Chattahoochee River while tubing on Tuesday.

The man went underwater after trying to go from one tube to the other on the river, according to Roswell Fire Chief Ricky Spencer. The man went missing near where Georgia 400 crosses the river.

Crews from multiple agencies, including the Roswell and Sandy Springs fire departments as well as the National Park Service, searched a two-mile stretch from Dawn White Memorial Park to Azalea Park in Roswell, but were unable to locate the man.

The search was halted as nightfall fell and a fog descended over the river.

Rescuers will return to the water on Wednesday around 7:30 a.m.

The man's name has not been released. He is reportedly a man in his 20s.
