HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -

Summer vacation is officially over for kids in six more north Georgia counties.  Students will head back to class in Cherokee, Floyd, Henry, Lamar, Pike and Rockdale counties on Monday.

The last-minute touches were done on Sunday to make sure everyone has a great first day back at school.  That was the case at McDonough Elementary School in Henry County, where teachers know that come Monday, the quiet hallways will be filled with 500 eager students who are ready to start another year.

Principal Jolie Hardin made the rounds Sunday afternoon as teachers decorated their classrooms, made seating assignments and reviewed course work.  She says they held their open house on Thursday, so much of the work was done before that.

With more counties heading back to the classroom, there's also been a run on school supplies at area stores.  Families have been roaming store aisles with their lists in hand, making sure they have everything they need to get the new school year off to a good start.
