License plate project sparks support for Riverdale boy

Posted: Updated:
RIVERDALE, Ga. -

What started as a fascination with license plates has turned into an outpouring of support for a Spalding County boy.

Seth Davis of Riverdale has a thing for states and their license plates.  The 10-year-old's fascination with vehicle tags is the driving force behind a project to find as many as possible.  His favorite is Kentucky, he says.

The allure isn't a mystery.  Numbers and letters are attractive to Seth, who is autistic.   His father reached out online, and as a result, they've seen an outpouring of compassion from strangers, one state at a time.

His dad, Rufus Davis, says it's exciting to open the mailbox and find a new plate inside.  He says receiving them makes Seth's face light up.

Seth says he plans on hanging all of the plates up in his bedroom.
