Chester County Kids Save Dad's Life

Posted: Updated:
DANVILLE, Pa. -

Three Chester County kids are being hailed as heroes after helping to save their dad's life following a frightening fall and seizure while they were on vacation last week.

Mark Sharratt and the family were on a camping trip in Danville, Pa., when he says he started to feel sick.

They traded their tent for a hotel so he could get more appropriate rest. Sharratt said the last thing he remembered was changing his 2-year-old's diaper. He fell face down to the ground.

Six-year-old Marky saw it all and said he ran out of the room to find his mom.

"I told Mommy, 'Mommy, call 9-1-1, Daddy's bleeding. It's not normal,'" he said.

"He was seizing and on the floor. 9-1-1 was saying apply pressure to where the blood was, but it was coming out every part, his eyeballs were popping out," said his wife, Sara.

She said 3-year-old Matthew ran through the building with his little sister banging on doors asking people to call 9-1-1. Help came, and crews rushed Mark to the hospital where he stayed for several days. He said doctors need to run more tests before they can say for sure what caused the seizure.

In the meantime Mark plans on taking it easy with his family and young heroes.

"It's very nice and rewarding to see. It makes you feel very proud," he said.
