Shirley Jones: What's In The Book, Is In The Book

Posted: Updated:

Who told Frank Sinatra what to do?  Nobody, right?

Wrong.  Apparently, Frank's wife Ava Gardner was tired of being left alone while he was up in Maine doing the preliminary work for his role opposite Shirley Jones in "Carousel." But Frank didn't stick around to film the movie.  When he found out he'd have to shoot some scenes twice, for technical reasons, he bolted, saying "I signed to do one movie, not two."

Jones was asked about that by Good Day L.A. co-anchor Maria Sansone: "Was he just stubborn?"

Without missing a beat, Jones said, "No. Ava Gardner called him and said, 'unless you get your fanny down here soon, I'm having an affair with Clark Gable."

That's one of several juicy stories in Shirley Jones' new book.  Another is the revelation that she lost her virginity to the man who would become her first husband, "the love of my life," Jack Cassidy, whom she also reveals was bisexual!

She also tells stories about her kids, too, including a description of her son David Cassidy's .. ahem.."physical attributes."

Pretty hot stuff from a woman who's soon to turn 80 years old.
