A man who says he's getting another shot at life after surviving cancer, wants to devote himself to helping others.

St. Clair Shores resident, Kevin Irish, battled and beat third stage lung cancer, and has now been in remission for four years. After writing his survival story, "I'm Still Here," Kevin decided to donate all he can to other cancer patients.

Kevin, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2009, has planned a golf outing August 25th to help raise money for cancer patients and survivors. For sixty dollars, participants will receive lunch, dinner, a chance to win several prizes, and a fun packed day of golf.

Kev's Kause Benefit Golf Outing will be held at the Sterling Heights Maple Lane Golf Club. Registration starts at twelve and tee time is at one. All ages and skill levels are welcome and encouraged to sign up.

Kevin plans to write checks to local cancer patients in need. His goal is $2,000, which would provide 10 patients with $200 each. All proceeds will go directly to cancer patients at the Ted B Wahby Cancer Center, in Mount Clemens.  "I'm just a cancer patient looking to help other cancer patients survive," said Kevin.

Kevin has high hopes to show other cancer patients that cancer can be beat. He believes it takes a bit of persistence, hope, a positive attitude, and a very aggressive drive; just like the game of golf.

Kevin is still looking for more participants and sponsors for this fun event, so if you're interested in helping out, please contact him at 586-764-1449 or e-mail him at

And don't forget to check out his book "I'm Still Here" available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble online. For every book he sells, five dollars will be donated to local cancer patients.
