Even though it feels like we are in the dog days of summer, school is right around the corner. Yep, many schools in Chicago go back in less than four weeks. That means it's time to get our back-to-school shop on.

Today I've gathered a few must-see gadgets for the kiddos who are heading back to the classroom.

Label Everything with Mabels Labels ($39)

I hate to lose stuff, especially things that I just bought for the kids. That's why I label everything that leaves my house and heads to school. Mabel's Labels are my labels of choice for everything from clothes to shoes to bottles, toys, bags, electronics and much more! I've used the same labels for a few years now and let me tell you that they really last! These labels stay put even in the dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.

Waterproof, Kid-Proof iPad Cases ($99-$129)

Let's face it - our kids are plugged in. Classrooms are using iPads and many older students are sporting them in their backpacks. Since kids aren't the most careful creatures, I suggest protecting your investment with a water proof, dirt proof, shock proof and snow proof case from LifeProof. These cases are available for the iPad Gen 2/3/4 and iPad Mini.

Reusable Water Bottles ($22.99)

Since we all want to do our part to help Mother Earth, let's start by passing on the disposable water bottles and investing in a good reusable one. SIGG makes the most amazing reusable water bottles and their new collaboration with Cuipo takes it up another notch. For each purchase of a Cuipo-branded SIGG bottle, you are saving one square meter of rainforest. These are bottles with a mission!

Zazoo Photo Clock ($89.99)

For those parents with early risers who can't tell time yet, the Zazoo Photo Clock is for them. The clock comes with pre-programmed images to help your child know when it is time to stay in bed or get up and start the day. Plus, this handy multi-media clock grows with your child with features such as a standard alarm clock, rotating digital photo frame, music & audio book capabilities.

LeapFrog LeapReader Reading & Writing System ($49.99)

Continue the learning outside the classroom with the educational LeapFrog LeapReader Reading & Writing System. Kids use the system to sound out words and practice reading sentences aloud, write letters and numbers with stroke-by-stroke guidance, and build listening comprehension with audio books and music. I love that this kid-friendly, mom-approved system combines reading, writing and listening to help kids ages 4-8 become better readers.
