Driver collides with truck, sending it into home

There was a frightening scene late Saturday night in Chandler. An erratic driver ended up smashing his car between two homes.

It happened near Pecos and Cooper in Chandler.

A man swerved off the road and smashed into a parked car, sending that car straight into someone's home and damaging a second home. Luckily no one was hurt.

Significant damage was left behind after a car veered off the road, slammed between two homes, jolting the homeowners inside.

"I was sitting in the living room in a lounge chair watching TV, my wife was in bed sound asleep, and all of a sudden I heard--sounded like a nuclear explosion. I mean, it was loud," said homeowner John Shields.

The crash took out power and electricity to the home.

Next door though, neighbors thought the sound came from their action movie until they walked outside and found a little action of their own.

"We saw the lights flash. My daughter yelling, 'Dad, there's something going on outside my window' and so I ran out front and sure enough it looked like my neighbor's car was through his garage," said Nathan Donnell.

The driver hit the homeowner's truck so hard it went through the garage wall.

The neighbor came out just as the driver tried to get away from the scene.

"Then I saw a car there that was revving up, back and forth, back and forth between the houses so I hopped up on the hood and started beating on the hood and telling the guy to stop, but he eventually got unwedged and almost run me over so I had to jump out of way," said Donnell.

The driver didn't get very far.

Police arrested him a short time later.

Neighbors don't know what led the driver to crash into the homes, but say a can of beer came from the car.

"It's a lot more action than I would ever want on a Saturday night. I'd go for more quiet activities that's for sure. I'm glad no one was hurt, that's the most important thing. Things can be replaced, but the fact that my family is safe and my kids are safe, that's everything to me," said BLANK.

Chandler Police have confirmed the driver is a juvenile and faces charges for a hit and run and DUI.
