TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A thunderstorm dropped up to an inch of rain on Tucson and knocked down power poles plus damaged the roof of a school on the city's south side.

Staff at Van Buskirk Elementary School had to be evacuated Friday afternoon after the roof was damaged, but there are no reported injuries.

Tucson Electric Power says 9,000 customers are currently without power because of poles down at South Park Avenue and East Fair and Irvington Road and Campbell Avenue.

The National Weather Service said up to an inch of rain has fallen in areas of Tucson.

In south-central Arizona, thunderstorms knocked down two power poles along State Route 88 near Lost Dutchman State Park.
