7-year-old Tey Barbour has a favorite basketball player: Michael Jordan.
"He's awesome!" says Tey.
Jordan is the man behind some pretty famous shots and shoes. Young Tey is making a name for himself with shoes too. Boxes and boxes of them.
The Manassas boy asked his mom if he could collect shoes for his birthday.
"At first, she was a little angry because she just had bought me shoes,” says Tey. “I said I want shoes for charity, not regular shoes to wear for myself."
In April, family members brought new and used shoes to his seventh birthday party. His mom's co-workers donated shoes too.
His teacher set up a donation box in the teachers' lounge at his elementary school.
He collected 741 pairs of shoes and $600 and donated them to a non-profit called Soles4Souls. They distribute shoes to those in need around the world.
Tey says giving feels good.
