Police release 911 calls from Bay Bridge accident

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -

Maryland Transportation Authority Police have released 911 calls that were made after an accident sent a car and its driver over the side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

The accident happened July 19 around 8:25 p.m. on the eastbound span of the bridge.

The driver, 22-year-old Morgan Lake, survived the 40 foot plunge into the bay.

Dramatic video showed Lake clinging to rocks after she escaped her submerged vehicle.

On Thursday, NTSB agents rode back and forth across the two spans of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge as part of their investigation.

A spokesman for the NTSB said the agency would likely take several days before deciding whether the mishap on the Bay Bridge is worthy of a federal probe of bridge barrier safety.
