Fox 2 Zip Trip: Chelsea

Posted: Updated:

FOX 2's Amy Andrews is zip tripping to Chelsea, MI, zip code 48118. It's a small town with a lot to do: from the Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix factory, to the artsy shops and signature restaurants lining the downtown streets.

The eclectic city has a vibrant culture and is welcoming to everyone.  So FOX 2 stopped in a few cool places that you can't find anywhere else…

First stop: The Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix factory.  And if you had no idea what Chelsea was before today, everyone knows Jiffy! It all started right in this small town.

Next stop: A local restaurant called Back to the Roots. It's a small business with a big purpose of helping fund local and worldwide community service in India, Haiti, and Nicaragua.  We got a chance to talk with Jessica Campbell, co-owner and server at Back to the Roots, who said "Back to the Roots, it's just getting back to the basics of life and making sure that we're caring for our neighbors and eating healthy and taking care of ourselves and our community."

Last stop: The infamous Purple Rose Theater, founded by actor Jeff Daniels.  It's a beautiful theater known for putting on spectacular plays.  Right now they have a comedy called "Miles and Ellie" which is running through August 31.

And now, we're live in Chelsea as they prepare for the Sounds & Sights Festival.  Chelsea packs the summer festival with art, music and fun! The festival is from Thursday, July 25 – Saturday, July 27 and features a diverse music lineup, juried arts & crafts, fine arts display, free entertainment, children's activities, beer garden, merchant's sales, car show, specialty food and more!

Chelsea is packed with things to do, and from 8 a.m. till 11 a.m. we'll be live to give you a peek of what this cool city and festival have to offer.
