Sunscreen can catch fire

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) -

The FDA reissues a warning about spray-on sunscreen.

Applying sunscreen *spray* before coming close to an open flame can cause a person to catch fire.

There have been at least five incidents in which people wearing spray-on sunscreen near flames ended up igniting to the point where they needed medical attention.

The specific Banana Boat brand products have been recalled. But several other brands can still include flammable ingredients like alcohol.
