ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -

Arlington Road in Roseville was one of many streets in Metro Detroit left in the dark after sweeping power outages. A crew came from out of state to repair downed lines and restore power to residents. No one expected what happened next.

"I heard screams. 'Man down! Wires are live!' It will never leave me. It was horrific," said one resident. "I saw him laying there, and he wasn't moving, and they couldn't get near him."

"It was horrible just the screams of his co-workers and the sight of him just lying there."

Fox 2 has learned a lineman from Louisiana was shocked when he was trying to remove debris from a downed line.

"We did have a lineman who came in contact with a wire. He was transported to the hospital, is awake and is doing okay," said Trevor Lauer from DTE Energy.

Roseville Fire Chief Michael Holland said his crew had to use hot sticks to find a safe way to pull the man to safety. He was in serious medical condition.

As of Monday evening, there were still 9,000 DTE Energy customers without power. Crews are working 16 hour days to make sure everyone has power by Tuesday night.
