MARIETTA, Ga. -

A Marietta apartment building was evacuated after the ground underneath it washed out on Saturday afternoon.  It happened the Ivey Ridge Apartments on Bently Drive.

Cobb County authorities say no injuries were reported.  They say building number 13 on the property was evacuated, and the Red Cross was called in to assist residents.

Authorities say residents cannot return to the building because it is structurally unsafe.

The washout was caused by heavy rains in the area.  One resident told FOX 5 when the ground began to erode underneath the building, it sounded and felt like an earthquake.
