Hundreds Rallied Calling For Justice For Trayvon Martin

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of Trayvon Martin supporters  rallied outside the Philadelphia Federal Courthouse, then marched around it, demanding a federal investigation into violations of the Florida teen's civil rights.

"If Rodney (King)  couldn't get justice with video, Trayvon couldn't get justice in the dead of night," explained Regan Almanor.

"Martin Luther King always tried to get cases out of Mississippi and Birmingham and get them up to federal level where you presumably will have more fair justice," said Anthony Wilson.

It has been a week since a Florida jury found George Zimmerman not guilty after he says he shot and killed the  17-year-old in self defense.

Saturday afternoon's rally the courthouse is  one of 100  held in cities across the country demanding justice for Trayvon. The Kellar's traveled from Springfield, Delaware County, questioning the not guilty verdict reached under Florida's stand your ground law.

"Doesn't Trayvon have right for stand your ground also," questioned Joanne Kellar. He's being pursued by George Zimmerman, he should have had a right too."

Martin supporters are hoping the rallies, marches and even call for a Florida

boycott will help change the fabric of the justice system. "Whether you're black,  white or another nationality if you believe in justice you should be out here."

The National Action Network is planning a march on Washington August 24th, to continue the push for federal action against Zimmerman.
