CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The young boy who was buried alive in an Indiana sand dune last week is slowly recovering.

Doctors say Nathan Woessner, 6, got out of bed and walked without any help Friday. He's also eating solid food for the first time since the accident.

Woessner was rescued after being trapped under 11 feet of sand.

Doctors have slowly been cleaning sand out of his lungs and say his long term outlook is very good.
