Jury picked in Ariz. stockbroker's murder trial

Updated:

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A jury panel has been chosen for the trial of a Prescott stockbroker accused of murdering his ex-wife.

The 18-member panel was completed Thursday in Yavapai County Superior Court in the trial of Steven DeMocker in the 2008 golf club bludgeoning of 53-year-old Carol Kennedy.

Judge Gary Donahoe told prospective jurors that crime-drama television shows such as "CSI" and "Law & Order" are fictional and that lawyers in the case shouldn't be held to unmeetable standards.

Deputy County Attorney Jeff Paupore said the prosecution's case will be based circumstantial evidence, without a confession or eyewitness testimony.

Defense attorney Craig Williams said critiquing the law enforcement officers' investigation will be a big part of the defense case.

The case is expected to take about a month.
