Posted: Updated:

With the mercury climbing past 90 and heat indices hovering around 100, the Chicago Fire Department on Thursday has been working to cool down some of the city's bridges which are being stressed by the heat.

According to Fire Media Affairs, fire personnel have been assisting with bridge operations by cooling down bridges which have become stuck or have over-expanded because of the intense heat.

As of about 1:45 p.m. fire personnel were at the 95th Street bridge performing cooling operations.
