Metro says riders can drink water on trains

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Metro officials say riders will be allowed to carry and drink water on trains and buses for the next few days because of expected hot temperatures.

Metro generally has a no eating or drinking policy. However, Metro officials said Tuesday that passengers will be allowed to drink in stations and aboard vehicles through Friday.

The National Weather Service meteorologist Ken Widelski says that on Tuesday temperatures at Reagan National Airport outside Washington reached 94. High temperatures in the region were expected to be in the mid-90s for the rest of the week.
