Aussie Man Adds "Mr" To Title and Lands Job

Posted: Updated:

An Australian man learns a lesson about male privilege in that country, thanks to his gender-neutral name.

Kim O'Grady spent months looking for a job and was getting rejected over and over again despite his extensive qualifications.  He wasn't sure what was wrong, until he looked over his resume again, and realized employers probably assumed he was a woman!

So he added "mister" ahead of his moniker.  After that, every job he applied to called him in for an interview.   He wound up landing a great new gig in no time!

Now,  he says he's embarrassed by his past thinking since he had always assumed the lack of female managers in his field was because they just weren't trying.
