Beat The Heat As Advisories Have Been Issued

The National Weather Service declared an "Excessive Heat Warning" Monday.

As a result, the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging will operate its Heatline from Noon to Midnight Monday and from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

In addition, City Health Department nurses will be on-site to speak with callers.

Neighbors and relatives are encouraged to check in on the elderly, as they are especially vulnerable to the heat.

For New Jersey residents, there are multiple cooling centers open to take advantage of, including:

County Administration Building, Multi-Purpose Room, first floor, One Bergen County Plaza     (201) 336-7300. Open from: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rutherford Senior Center, 55 Kip Center .(201)460-1600. Open form 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The following cooling centers will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Northwest Bergen Multipurpose Senior Activity Center, 46-50 Center St., Midland Park, NJ (201) 445-5690

Bergenfield Senior Center, 239 Murray Hill Terrace, Bergenfield, NJ (201) 387-7212

Southwest Bergen Multipurpose Senior Activity Center, 147 Hackensack St., East Rutherford, NJ (201) 935-8920

Fair Lawn has also announced the opening of three cooling centers that will be open throughout this week's heat wave.

Community Center: Wednesday through Friday – 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Senior Center: Wednesday through Friday – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fair Lawn Library: Wednesday and Thursday - 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

    The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

    Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

    It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.

    The Coast Guard have suspended an emergency search for a man who went overboard in a boat after he went missing. New Jersey State Police have identified him as 49-year old John J. Poltonowicz.
