Students gather in Perry for State-Fish Art Expo

Posted: Updated:

PERRY, Ga. (AP) - Dozens of student artists from around the country are gathering at the Go Fish Education Center in Perry to honor the winners of the Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art Contest.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division and Wildlife Forever are hosting the State-Fish Art Expo.

Officials say 141 young artists were selected among thousands of entries as the "best of the best" for their state and grade category. The top 12 national awards will be announced during an awards ceremony Saturday afternoon.

The art contest is open to children in grades K-12 and the artwork must feature a state fish in its natural habitat.
