4 detained after involvement in possible drug deal

PHOENIX -

Phoenix Police stopped a possible drug deal Thursday afternoon in the area of 47th Ave and Sweetwater.

According to Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos, patrol officers saw two cars in a cul de sac that were possibly involved in drug activity.

Officers tried to block the vehicles in, and one of the officers attempted to approach one of the suspect vehicles.

The suspect accelerated towards the officer, and the officer fired at the vehicle. The suspect drove through someone's yard in an attempt to flee.

Officers later tracked the suspect car to a McDonald's at 67th Ave and Peoria. They discovered the suspect lived a few blocks from that McDonald's, and conducted surveillance on the house.

When they saw the suspect and a female leave in a pickup truck, they followed it.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle at 67th Ave and Cortez and took both into custody.

As for the other car involved in the suspected drug transaction, its two occupants were also detained.

No one was hurt. Names of the suspects have not yet been released.
