Glen Burnie man hit in head with baseball bat and robbed

GLEN BURNIE, Md. -

A 40-year-old man was hit in the head with a baseball bat and robbed of his wallet and cell phone in Glen Burnie, Maryland Wednesday.

Police officers were dispatched to the unit block of Virginia Avenue on Wednesday, at approximately 8:48 p.m. The 40-year-old male victim reported he was walking past a group of individuals when he was suddenly attacked.

The victim was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma and was listed in serious condition. The injuries are considered non-life threatening

One suspect, 35-year-old William Lee Haynes of Glen Burnie, Maryland, was taken into custody and has been charged with attempted first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, robbery, armed robbery, theft under $1,000 and theft under $100.
