Posted: Updated:

A 77-year-old Delaware county woman is thanking a firefighter for chasing off a would-be rapist from her home.

It happened Tuesday afternoon in Upland, Pennsylvania.

The DELCO Times is reporting the attacker pushed open the victim's door, shoving her to the ground, after asking to use her phone.

An Upland firefighter saw what was going on and ran to the house.

He pounded on the door and, thankfully, the attacker fled out the backdoor.

This morning, Fox 29's Steve Keeley spoke to Doug Scott, the hero firefighter, who saved this woman from her would-be attacker.    Mr. Scott was simply told Steve that he saw something and "Did what he had to do."

Police are testing the phone for fingerprints. the victim suffered only minor injuries.

If you have any information or recognize the man in the sketch, you're asked to call police.
