Woman faces animal cruelty charges after dog found locked in a hot vehicle

WINCHESTER, Va. -

A woman faces animal cruelty charges after police say she left a dog locked in a hot vehicle.

The incident happened in the 2300 block of South Pleasant Valley Road around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday when authorities responded to a call for a dog locked inside a truck.

Officers say the outside temperature was around 80 degrees, however, the temperature inside the vehicle reached 95.

After officers removed the dog it was taken to an animal hospital and treated for heat exposure.

41-year-old Tammy Fiddler was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
