Mother Nature put on quite a show in Pinellas County Monday night: A waterspout formed near Oldsmar, and many people caught it on camera.

Check out the photos viewers sent in, and see video of the spout by FOX 13 photojournalist John Wright.

It lasted about 10 minutes, according to meteorologist Jim Weber. Clear skies in the area made the large spout visible for miles, Weber said.

The spout caused some minor damage. It took off a portion of the top of a lanai at a home on Shore Drive; it also took off a few shingles from the roof of the house next door and uprooted some trees.

Witnesses said the spout looked ominous as it developed.

"I watched the whole thing develop which was pretty cool, it started out as just a tiny white funnel, then it turned black and massive," said Taylor Whidden.

"The funnel cloud literally came directly over the top of us and it was as if God lifted his finger from the earth at the exact moment that it would have hit our home," recalled William Mauge, who submitted one of the most dramatic images of the storm (above).
