Rig's soapy spill stirs up massive suds in nearby Va. creek

NORFOLK, Va. -

Police say the truck driver lost control of his rig on the wet roadway in Botetourt County, Virginia. His soapy cargo went spilling into the nearby creek.

Soap plus water equals suds, suds and more suds. Within minutes, the creek was blanketed in thick, white, frothy bubbles.

Pollution response officials say about 14,000 bottles of lemon-scented dish soap dumped into the water.

They're addressing concerns about the household cleaning chemicals may affect not only the creek water, but the wildlife and vegetation living in it.
