July 4th On The Parkway Wraps With Concert And Fireworks

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia has the formula for an unmatchable July 4th party on the Parkway down pat.

"I'm loving the vibe. I'm feeling it," screamed Shataya Hawley from the crowd.

The big show started with a little comedy from Philly's own Kevin Hart to warm up the crowd. He got the crowd going by yelling into the microphone, "Philadelphia make some noise!"

Sprinkled in was more Philly flavor with the soulful sounds of Jill Scott and Philly's own band The Roots. Other crowd favorites, "I love John Mayer. I'm his biggest fan," yelled one young lady. A guy screamed out "I'm here to see my man J. Cole perform."

It was a full day of food , fun and family.

"It's hot but it was worth the drive," said Lisa Johnson who brought her family from Baltimore to see Jill Scott perform. "She sounds just like herself. She sounds just like the record," said Lisa.

Ronald Stone and his family came from South Jersey for their first July 4th on the Parkway and some history.

"I just wanted to bring the family out to have some fun and show them the city. I wanted to walk them in the footsteps our forefathers and teach them a little bit," said Ronald.

The night ended with a fantastic fireworks show from above the Art Museum.
