Smash-and-grab robbery at Tysons Corner jewelry store

TYSONS CORNER, Va. -

Fairfax County police are searching for suspects after a brazen smash-and-grab at a jewelry store inside Tysons Corner Center.

Cell phone video captured the action as five male suspects smashed their way through the glass security cases at Kay Jewelers.

According to witnesses, they used hammers or mallets, then stuffed their pockets and possibly some bags with jewelry, and took off running through the mall. They escaped out an emergency exit with an undisclosed amount of stolen goods.

Police say no one was injured and no weapons were used other than the ones used to smash the glass cases.

There have been some similar cases as of late including a smash-and-grab at the Kay Jewelers at Fair Oaks Mall last month. Detectives are working to determine whether any of the cases are connected.
