Independence Day LA 2013, Where To Watch The Big Show

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 11 / CNS) Organizers are promising the largest fireworks show in the history of the Rose Bowl to mark Independence Day Thursday while a Fourth of July celebration -- also featuring pyrotechnics -- will be held at downtown's Grand Park for the first time.

Americafest, billed as Southern California's largest and longest-running Independence Day fireworks show, will be presented for the 87th time at the Rose Bowl and include a 30-minute fireworks show, with thousands of special effects fireworks launched from inside and outside the stadium.

Americafest will begin at 7 p.m. and also include a motorcycle stunt show and performances by Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G and the Mariachi Divas. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m.

The Rose Bowl parking lots will open at 9 a.m. Parking at Brookside Golf Course will be available starting at 3:30 p.m. A festival with food vendors, entertainment, craft-making and inflatable rides for children will begin at 2 p.m. outside the stadium. Tours of the stadium will be conducted on July 4 for the first time in its 90-year history.

In downtown L.A., the Fourth of July Block Party at the recently opened four-block long Grand Park will begin at 2 p.m. and is described as a family-friendly celebration of the global character of Los Angeles. It will include world music performances by Ethio Cali and Jungle Fire, a featured performance by La Santa Cecilia, along with DJ sets by Anthony Valadez of KCRW-FM (89.9)
and a poetry slam.

A light show spectacle, "Pyro Goes Boom!'' -- combining light, projections, pyrotechnics and music -- will begin at 9 p.m. Food will be available from food trucks. Outside food and beverages are permitted and picnics encouraged, but alcohol is not allowed.

A 20-minute fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. in the main channel in Marina Del Rey, synchronized to music played over loudspeakers throughout Burton Chace Park and broadcast over KXLU-FM (88.9). Burton Chace Park, Fisherman's Village and Marina Beach are considered the best viewing spots.

The Fourth of July Fireworks Festival will be held at CBS Studio Center in Studio City. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and close at 8 p.m. The event begins at 5 p.m.. Catch a Wave, a Beach Boys tribute band, will perform.

An Independence Day Celebration will return to Lynwood City Park in Lynwood -- after a one-year absence for budgetary reasons -- thanks to assistance from the Greater Lynwood Chamber of Commerce. Nearly 8,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will be held from 3-11 p.m. and include a carnival and other festivities. The fireworks are expected to start at approximately 9 p.m.

Fireworks will also follow the Los Angeles Galaxy-Columbus Crew Major League Soccer game at the StubHub Center and the Josh Groban concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

Fireworks shows are also scheduled for the following locations in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, all beginning at 9 p.m., except where noted:
